While insulation will create the greatest immediate cost benefit, there are always many other areas that can be improved upon. Warm Walls - Foam Insulation
We are proud to work with Tripolymer® injection foam. This product is the safest and most effective product on the market for insulating wall cavities in existing structures. Even walls that were originally insulated with fiberglass can benefit substantially. The foam has a very high R-value of 5.1 per inch and flows into and seals all cracks and gaps, substantially eliminating airflow through the wall. Tripolymer® increases the fire rating of a wall. It won’t burn, settle, develop smoke, or melt. It creates a solid barrier against air movement, eliminates voids that invite pests, has zero food value for pests, and is non-toxic, giving off no fumes or odor during and after installation. Tripolymer® becomes solid in form within minutes, won't settle, and cures fully in 48 to 72 hours. It is fully expanded as it leaves the gun and will not cause damage through expansion in the wall cavity.
Insulating Attics
Proper Insulation of an attic area involves more than just putting additional insulation up there. Most attics in older homes have inadequate ventilation and simply adding more insulation can cause problems. We make sure that your house is brought up to modern building code standards for attic ventilation and R-value. We carefully check the entire attic space for any air leaks through the ceiling (pipes, wires, and chimneys) and seal them up with foam. We evaluate the existing ventilation and install roof vents, soffit vents, radiant barriers, and baffle vents as required, to make sure that your attic is not trapping moisture or heat that can lead to ice dams in the winter. Our preferred attic insulation product is Nu-Wool® blown-in cellulose insulation. Based on the performance of the product and the reasonable cost, cellulose blown-in insulation is the most cost effective solution for most attics.
